Acceptable Use Policy
Media Call enables journalists to connect with PR agencies, in-house PR and marketing staff, and company spokespeople, to request information and assistance in relation to the stories they are working on. To maintain a professional service, we request that:
- Only bona fide journalists can send media enquiries and only bona fide PRs or company spokespeople can receive them.
- Where an individual is both a journalist and a PR professional, we ask that they choose to register as only one, whichever is the more dominant role. This is to ensure confidentiality of media requests, so that journalists' story ideas are not leaked to other journalists.
- The service is not to be used for sales-related requests, such as requests for advertising, paid advertorial, sponsorship or otherwise. Requests for competition prizes can however be accepted.
- Journalists are usually working to tight deadlines, therefore PRs must agree to respond to journalist enquiries before the journalist's deadline.
- The enquiry system must only be used to gather information for genuine stories and journalists must not include obscene, tasteless or discriminatory content of any kind. Anyone who abuses the system with inappropriate enquiries will be barred immediately from future use.
Why?
The success of Media Call is based on the fact that journalists' story ideas are not accessible to other journalists. This is why we only allow genuine PRs and company spokespeople to receive media enquiries.
Likewise, only journalists can view full listing details of PR agencies and companies, in the PR Directory. Full listings can contain agency client lists, so these are not accessible by other PRs. Only basic listing details can be viewed by all.
