Frequently Asked Questions
What is Media Call?
Media Call offers journalists a fast and confidential way to source information, case studies, contacts and products to review, from PRs. In turn, it delivers a stream of media coverage leads to public relations professionals (both agency and in-house).
How does Media Call work?
Journalists fill in an online form with the details of their request. They select the categories it best relates to. Enquiries are immediately sent to all public relations professionals subscribed to those categories. PR professionals then choose whether to respond to each enquiry, depending on its relevance.
Why do I need Media Call?
Media Call helps journalists and PRs to do their jobs easier and faster. It will save you time and expand your network.
Who is Media Call for?
Media Call is used by journalists in print, broadcast and online, including feature writers at newspapers and glossy magazines, freelance journalists, TV production staff, online news journalists and reviewers.
Media enquiries can be received by all PRs and anyone responsible for the PR for their company. This includes agency PRs, in-house PR and marketing staff, company spokespeople and public relations freelancers.
Can anyone sign up?
Only bona fide journalists and freelancers can send media enquiries. Only bona fide PRs or company spokespeople can subscribe to receive them.
I’m a journalist and a PR. Can I sign up for both?
No. To ensure the integrity and confidentiality of the service, you must choose one or the other – preferably whichever side of your work is dominant.
Will other journalists see my story ideas?
No. When you are logged in as a journalist, you do not gain access to other journalists’ media enquiries. Likewise, we only allow bona fide PRs to receive media enquiries. This avoids any issues of unfair competition. It enables journalists to freely request information or assistance from PRs, without the fear of having story ideas viewed or taken.
I run a PR agency and would like to list my clients in the PR directory. Will other PRs see my client list?
The PR Directory has both basic and full listings. All journalists and PRs can view basic listings. Only journalists logged in can view full PR listings which include client lists. This is to ensure your client list remains confidential from other PRs.
How quickly do media enquiries get distributed?
Instantly. There’s no waiting for media calls to be manually sent out – either individually or in a daily digest. Each media enquiry is sent out individually, the minute it is submitted by a journalist. This gives PRs maximum time to respond by the journalist’s stated deadline.
How much does Media Call cost?
Media Call is free for journalists and is an annual subscription for PRs/company spokespeople. Subscriptions are priced per subject category, and start from $125 per year. (There is no minimum number of categories).
For PR agencies, subscriptions are ‘per office’. For example, if you have Sydney and Melbourne offices, you will require two separate subscriptions.
